Back in April, we reported about Nokia working on a Lytro-like camera feature for its Lumia smartphones. And now almost after 6 months, the company has finally announced a new camera app – Refocus Lens with this tech on its Lumia devices at Nokia World. The app will essentially bring variable depth of field to the cameras on Lumia devices and will allow a user to change the focus of a picture. Nokia has first launched the Refocus Lens app on its Lumia 1520 phablet launched at the same event and will later bring it on older Lumia device which might exclude the low end ones.
Talking more about the app, it will let a user change the focus of a photo after clicking it. One can simply tap and choose to change focus at any point. And just to retain the feel of the image, It will also come with the color pop feature which will highlight or add colors to that photo. The app will also be able to convert it the photo to 5-megapixels in size and also work with Facebook.
Nokia has for quite some time been putting its focus on imaging on Lumia phones and for that had also acquired the imaging business giant Scalado last year.
