Nokia announced two new smartphones— Lumia 1520 and the Lumia 1320. Both the smartphones were unveiled at the ongoing Nokia World 2013 event and while the former will be available later this year, the latter will only arrive early next year. Both these smartphones are the first phablets developed by Nokia with 6-inch displays. With bigger displays, both the phablets take advantage of a third new column of tiles on the homescreen.
The Lumia 1520 flaunts a 6-inch 1080p ClearBack full HD display and is powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. It also features a 3,400mAh battery which according to Nokia is good enough for 27.4 hours of talktime and 32 days on standby mode, 32GB internal memory that is expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card slot and Nokia is also offering 7GB of free Skydrive space. On the photography front, it too is a powerhouse like the Lumia 1020, featuring a 20-megapixel PureView camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and Nokia Camera app, which brings all the smart camera add-ons under one app. The phablet also ensures top-quality video recording with OIS technology and four built-in microphones. Nokia has bundled apps like Nokia Storyteller with the phablet. Like the other Lumias, this too will be available in yellow, white, black and glossy red color variants.
The less expensive Lumia 1320, on the other hand, flaunts a similar 6-inch display but with 720p resolution. It is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.7GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. Other features included are a 5-megapixel camera, 3,400mAh battery which according to Nokia can survive through 25 hours of talktime or 28 days on standby mode, 8GB of internal storage which too is expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card and 7GB of free cloud storage. This phablet too comes bundled with apps like Nokia Camera, HERE Maps and Nokia Music. The phablet will be available in orange, yellow, white and black color variants.
In terms of pricing and availability, the Lumia 1520 is priced at $749 (Rs 46,000 approximately) and will be available in Hong KongSingapore, US, China, UK, France, Germany, Finland and other European markets, with other markets to follow. The Lumia 1320, on the other hand, will arrive next year with a price tag of $339 (Rs 21,000 approximately) in markets like China and Vietnam, followed by India and other European countries.
