Later this month, Abu Dhabi will host the Nokia World 2013, where the Finnish company is expected to unveil as many as six new devices that include the Lumia 1520 phablet and the Lumia 2520 tablet. Ahead of this event, at Gitex, Nokia pulled off a promotional stunt wherein a group of skydivers brought the 41-megapixel Lumia 1020 to the Middle Eastern country literally from the sky.
The real wow factor in this video is the fact that the entire jump sequence has been shot from a Lumia 1020 strapped to diver’s helmet. The OIS on the 41-megapixel PureView camera shows its magic as the video is surprisingly steady considering how it was shot. After a couple of shots of the group of divers and the sprawling city of Dubai, the video wraps up with the Lumia 1020 being handed off to a gentleman, noting that yellow Windows Phone has arrived.
This is not the first time we have seen the use of such daredevilry to promote a device. Last year at the Google I/O, Sergey Brin orchestrated a team of skydivers, rapplers and bikers to show off the new Google Glass. You can relive that stunt in the video embedded below.
