Android Jelly Bean OS seems to be going from strength to strength and is currently the most widely used Android OS. According to the latest Google Android dashboard, nearly half of all Android devices are now running on the Jelly Bean OS. GingerBread and Ice Cream Sandwich, on the other hand, are continuously losing their share and are slowly fading away.
According to the latest report, nearly 48.6 percent of Android devices (running on the latest Google Play Store) are running on Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.x, 4.2.x and 4.3). This is a 3.5 percent increase from last month, when 45.1 percent of Android devices were recorded running on Jelly Bean.
This is followed by Gingerbread, which runs on 28.5 percent of smartphones and Ice Cream Sandwich, which runs on 20.6 percent of smartphones. Both these OS have seen a 1.1 and 2.2 percent drop from last month.
Google is slowly starting to roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and also has 4.4 KitKat in the pipeline, which will only increase the level of fragmentations.
