Dish TV today launched an application named as the DishOnline for Android and iOS devices. The application basically comes as an extension to Dish TV DTH and is available only for the current Dish TV subscribers on Android and iOS platforms. So all the Dish TV users can download this app for free from the Google Play Store or from the Apple’s App Store and can then subscribe to the genre of channels they wish to watch.
For its users, Dish TV has launched two DishOnline monthly packs namely the Jumbo pack that includes TV channels, all movies, all shows and all videos and is priced for Rs 129. The other pack named as the Starter pack comes for Rs 49 and includes movies, all shows and all videos. However, the company is offering introductory offer on these packs which will be available at a discounted prices at Rs 69 and Rs 29 respectively.
For the content part, Dish TV has partnered with 35 channels for now for this application and plans to add more partners in future. The partners include Zee TV, Sony, Aaj Tak, BBC, Ten Cafe, Zee Studio and more. These partners are basically the same that presently have their services on Dish TV as well. The company also plans to expand the reach of this application to other platforms and will soon add support for the Windows Phone as well.
Salil Kapoor, COO Dish, TV said that the company plans to rope in more channel partners for this application without changing the subscription charges to these two packs. The company is hoping to get 500,000 active subscribers, from their current Dish TV subscriber base, for this service within six months time from the app’s launch.
Also, one can watch the live streaming of the content using the Live TV mode or can switch to Catch TV to watch it later. The application will work on all networks including 2G and 3G however will perform better while using on Wi-Fi and 3G networks.
