Alleged carrier documentation confirms Sony Xperia Z1 mini will have flagship specs under a 4.3-inch screen

The Sony Xperia Z1 mini has often been rumored to be that Android device that will turn around the trend of mini variants of flagship smartphones being mediocre in the specs department, and we now have the most concrete evidence to support that rumor.

XperiaBlog has gotten hold of what seems to be a catalog from Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo, which shows the Z1 mini next to the Xperia Z1. The phone itself is mentioned as Xperia Z1 f, so it’s possible Sony might be looking to go against another trend that other manufacturers have followed, and won’t be simply slapping on the word “mini” next to the name of its flagship device.

Furthermore, the document also lists the specs of the Xperia Z1 mini, and as everyone had hoped, it shares most of the high-end specs of the Xperia Z1. There’s a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood, 2GB of RAM, and even the giant 20.7-megapixel camera sensor as the company flagship. The only major differences (or downgrades, if you will) are the 4.3-inch 720p display, smaller 2,300mAh battery, and lower inbuilt storage of 16GB.

The latest leak leaves not a single doubt that the Xperia Z1 mini will be the iPhone of the Android market, a market that’s littered with giant and unwieldy flagship devices, and all that remains is an official announcement by Sony. If you’ve been holding out for the Xperia Z1 mini, well, maybe it’s time to start saving up for it.
