Apple’s USB adapter exchange program now available in India, exchanges third-party adapters for Rs 839

Apple’s USB adapter takeback program has officially gone live in India. We earlier exclusively reported that Apple would introduce this program in India as well but many Apple Premium Retailers feigned ignorance about this program. However, now Apple India has put up details of the program on its India site. The offer, which is valid till October 18, lets users bring a third party USB adapter and exchange it for an original Apple USB adapter for Rs 839 rather than approximately Rs 1,500 it normally costs. One can exchange only one adapter per iOS device and would need to take that device to an Apple Premium Store at the time of availing the offer.

Apple started the program after incidents of people getting electrocuted and some even dying from fake or third-party USB adapters that were being used to charge iPhones. It is a limited period offer that will last till October 18.
