Nokia today announced that Nokia World, its annual event where it showcases its flagship products across segments, will take place in Abu Dhabi on October 22. Over the last few weeks this was the rumored date for the launch of Nokia’s long rumored Windows RT tablet, and Abu Dhabi was pegged to be the place for the event.
Now, that it has been confirmed as a Nokia World event, we can expect to see more than the rumored Windows RT tablet and the Lumia 1520 phablet. We can expect a few more devices including something from the Asha line up.
In addition to the tablet, which has been codenamed ‘Sirius’ Nokia is also expected to launch a phablet, which was reported to be running on Windows Phone 8 GDR3 release. The phablet will supposedly have a 20-megapixel PureView camera and a 1080p display, but size of the screen is still not clear. Earlier reports claimed that it will have a 6-inch panel, but more recent reports suggest a 5-inch screen.
Interestingly, yesterday, Microsoft announced its new Surface Tablets and both those products will be available in the market on the very same day. Looks like most Windows OEMs will be launching their new Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 products after the October 18 general availability date.
