Sony UK has unveiled the third-generation HMZ-T3W headset today. The headset will be available in the UK in a few weeks’ time, and will cost $2025 USD (£1299).
The HMZ-T3W contains two 720p OLED displays, one for each eye, which can be adjusted individually to get the picture focused. The headset can play back both 2D and stereoscopic 3D content. This variant will be able to play back 60GHz wireless transmissions. You can also connect your smartphone using a micro-HDMI / MHL cable and view content on the headset.
The HMZ-T3W comes with a pocketable battery pack that tethers to the headset. The pack contains ports for both full-size and micro-HDMI cables. The headset does include high-definition audio and virtual 7.1 surround sound. You can connect wired or wireless headphones to the HMZ-T3W. Sony has mentioned that the headset will cost £1,299 in the UK.
This headset is different from the PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset that Sony is rumoured to be working on. That headset is set to be unveiled later this month at the Tokyo Game Show.
